I have used a derma roller (needle roller) 0.25mm and while I enjoyed it, it was not deep enough to cause visible changes. This Dr Pen microneedling pen is the answer. It can go from 0.25 to 2.5 mm allowing for you to have some real results. That being said, you don't want to jump right to the deeper depths for your whole face because you can cause damage that way. The instruction manual gives some recommended depths for each part of your face. I started off with 0.25 but I quickly moved on to 0.5 and then 1.0. I think for my needs 1.0 is my max for my face/neck. I didn't have any pin prick/bleeding areas but it made my face significantly red after the session. I was able to hydrate and calm my skin down with a hyaluronic serum. The next morning my face had lost any residual redness and looked refreshed with my deep 11 wrinkles between my eyebrows a tad less deep. The manual didn't really offer much for instructions/guidelines on how often. So per my research, if you are using the nano attachment you can use that weekly. If you are using the needles you should probably wait 2-3 weeks between sessions. You also want to be careful with what serums/facial products you use after the microneedling taking care to avoid the Vitamin C and retinol serums for a few days after a session to give your skin a chance to recover. And make sure to protect your skin from the sun after a needling session because your skin will be more sensitive afterwards. The needle attachments are 1 time use items, so you will need to buy replacement needle cartridges but if you are only using it every 2-3 weeks it will take awhile before you need more cartridges.
