Great for newbies!
I just did my first treatment, but my first impression of this pen was a positive one.
To start of this kit doesn’t include any instructions for how to use this product. That’s because everyone’s skin is different, and there isn’t a blanket recommendation that can be made on how to use this product. I spent about a week researching at home micro needling before I felt confident enough to do my first treatment. Even then I was very conservative. I had minimal pain, worst part was stinging feeling post treatment. This kit includes 4 sets of one time use needle cartridges, the pen, and the carrying case. Everything was clean, packaged, and each needle cartridge is individually packaged. These are one time use cartridges. You must throw away Al the cartridge after each use. Most people space treatment every 6-8 weeks so it’s not like you will be buying new cartridges weekly. The ones that came with the set should last 1/2 a year. This can be used plugged while plugged in so no worries about it dying mid treatment because you forgot to charge it.
What additional things you need to buy:
1. Lidocaine cream to numb your face. You don’t have to use this, but will make your experience more pleasant. You sanitize before and clean it off completely before proceeding with treatment. You don’t want to inject lidocaine into your face.
2. Alcohol wipes to sterilize your face. This is a must, don’t skip out on this.
3. A serum to use as lubricant to help the needle glide across your face. This is also essential as it will help prevent you from accidentally scarring your face. For me choosing a serum was the hardest part as there are a lot of different options and recommendations. I ended up just going with the serum I use twice a day, it’s a hyaluronic acid serum that I know works well with my skin. I used a brand new bottle to make sure there was no contamination. I plan on using some more targeted serums for my next treatment for sun spots and acne scarring.
4. A post treatment face mask. Optional, but highly recommend. It’s really nice if you keep it in the fridge as the cooking effect feels great on the skin post treatment.
5. Gloves.
You will also need face wash and a good face sunscreen, most people have these things at home.
It’s too early to see results, but as someone who was nervous, this product was easy to use, and the process was not painful. Excited to see the results of my first treatment!
