I really would have preferred to wait until I’d used it a couple of times before reviewing but they sent me a thing for a free box of needle carts and this was part of the deal!! It’s a solid win for me- even just after the first use tho. Watch all the dr pen vids you can FIRST and pay attention to the appropriate speeds/depths for different areas- that matters! I have seen a few vids (by beauty DIYers ) where they aren’t wearing gloves, don’t discuss keeping your work area clean, cross contamination etc and it makes me nervous. As a nurse, I’ve seen the horror stories! Disinfect your work surface, use the chlorhexadine scrub to wash off the numbing cream like dr pen says, and wear the gloves. Don’t dip into an open container with that gloved finger you just touched your skin with (especially skin that you’ve just poked holes in)- be mindful of cross contamination. I use paper towels from the second layer down on a new roll as even just washed towels may still have bacteria that could get into those little wounds you’ve just made! Just like with after-care, you don’t want “active” products on your skin during or your skin will be very upset. Stick with plain HA (huge fan of the Ordinary’s 2%- very high quality and inexpensive.) All that said- the results are going to be good if you follow instructions because this is as close as you’ll get to a salon dermapen!
